Here is a quick summary of what Ryan and me did during our almost 3 weeks efforts to chase down the biggest storms we could find in the western US.
Wed, 01/10
Drive to Portland, meet with John, eat at Micro Brewery, sleep at Johns parents home
Thu, 01/11
SkiMt Hood, Timberline, the flattest Resort I ever skied, Stormin' Normin made true for it's name. Good snow, -12F, no pitch, night at the irish pub with Drew, John, Ryan, the two girls
Fri, 01/12
Ski Mt. Hood Meadows with Ryan and John, Still really cold up there, snow transforms into ice inthe later afternoon. John twists and wrecks his knee on the ice in a snow plow. Not so great!!
Sat, 01/13
Another day and Mt. Hood Meadows, less icy. Still very cold.
Sun, 01/14
Ski the last day in Mt Hood with Abby and John, did a lot of easy runs, working on basics, who makes the most turns per run, till the thighs scream. That afternoon we start on the big drive to southern Colorado. Estimated 18-20 hours.
Mon, 01/15
Sleep in front of the gas station 150 mi before Ogden@-10F, Subaru oil change, drive to Ridgway CO, a long drive, a beautifull drive.
Tue, 01/16
Ski BC Red Mountain, Great vistas, deep deep snow, we are buring out....
Wed, 01/17
Ski Telluride for $45, Big and tall resort, lots of groomers, steep mogules, AND the hike, best turns for this week, took us 2 hours for 4000ft in elevation; NICE!! Drive up to Denver along Hwy50 and 285, only 6 hours and we are there and welcome at Scott and Hills house. We get to sleep in beds again, Yehaaaa.
Thu, 01/18
Day off @ Scott and Hills house, We needed it desperately.
Fri, 01/19
Another day off for me to be able to somewhat cure my elaborate blister on my right heel, right where it hurts. The day is beautifull and the blue sky is making it harder to endure the 2nd day of no Skiing. I am hoping for snow the next two days, Let it snow let it snow set it snow. Only one more week to go and I will be back home, Cannot believe it.
